Frequently Asked Questions

When can I expect to receive my order?
The process used to produce your order varies but it generally takes Dobbs Greek Apparel two to three weeks to produce the item unless the item is already in stock. The same timing as to production generally applies to event special order merchandise. The customer service representative working with you on your special event order will be able to give you a specific estimate depending on your order. Special event orders also generally involve an art approval process that is not necessary for standard catalog items. Once produced the time in transit depends on the shipping method you have chosen. That depends on how far your shipment has to travel. Click here to see a color-coded time-in-transit map for UPS ground shipments in the 48 contiguous states.

What brand of apparel does the customer receive from Dobbs apparel?
For event special order merchandise the customer can specify brand name apparel from our catalog or allow us to choose suitable apparel from our catalog and sources. We custom decorate with customer logo and art by screening or embroidery as the customer requires. The online catalog features brands and sourcing as indicated in the description or if no brand is described then the brand will be as selected by Dobbs Greek Apparel to fit the item as described online
What do I do if I don't want to order online?
Its easy. Just call us at 800-889-6368 and ask for sorority sales. If you would rather print and order form fill it out and fax it to us or send a check please click here for a pdf order form If you need the free Adobe® reader click here

Are all of the items shown on your Web site kept in stock?
No. We do, however, try to keep an inventory of our most popular products close at  hand. If you're pressed for time we'll l probably find something that'll fill the bill.

What types of decoration are available?
Your logo or other artwork can be embroidered or screen printed (also known as silk-screening). 7 or 8 color screens and 6 color embroidery runs are not uncommon. Dobbs Apparel also has the capability to to sublimation, heat transfers, vinyl appliqués and other non standard decoration techniques. Please contact us regarding our capabilities if you require special decoration techniques on custom orders.

What are your minimum order requirements?
We have no online minimums except as may be noted online in the item description or on checkout. Generally our special order minimum quantity is a two dozen of the same style and size. We have no minimum order amount on catalog items except what may be shown online excluding shipping charges, sales taxes, export fees, etc.

Do you accept credit cards?
Yes. We accept American Express, Visa, MasterCard and Discover cards.

What is your normal method of shipment?
The majority of our orders are shipped via UPS. Ground service is the most economical means of shipping your order. 3-Day Ground, 2nd Day Air and Next Day Air services are available at additional cost.

If I have my order shipped via UPS ground, how long will it take to get to me?
That issue is discussed in detail in the first paragraph above. Click here to see a color-coded time-in-transit map for UPS ground shipments in the 48 contiguous states.

Can you ship my order COD?
No, we have found that the nature of internet sales do not allow us to ship COD because of the large number of orders that simply don't get delivered or accepted. We limit sales to prepaid orders.

I need my order ASAP. Can I fax my logo artwork to you?
No - unless you want your embroidered or screen printed image to look like a faxed copy! The low resolution of fax transmissions produces a jagged printed image that's unsuitable for use as artwork for cover decoration. If you've got a drop-dead due date and time is critical, overnight a black and white copy of your art or send us a digitized version on disk or attached to an email message.

If you choose to email your artwork, please send it to art@dobbsgreekapparel.com and include the name of the sales rep or customer service person that you're working with in either the subject line or body of your message. If the file name does not include an extension (i.e., "logo.TIF" or "art.EPS"), please tell us in the body of your message what the file format is and what program was used to create the file.

OK, I'll send you a digitized image. What file format do you prefer?
For best results we would like a file that can display at 300dpi at 100% of the size you need the final decoration. Vector based graphics can be resized without loss of resolution so if you have access to a method to produce a vector based file that would be best. We'd like to have your art in either a TIF or EPS format. For single-color decoration (one color embroidery or screen printing), TIF works well if the art you're sending will be used at or near 100% of it's original size. If we're going to have to increase the size of the art to fit the cover, EPS works best because it's a vector-based format that scales well without deteriorating the image quality. Try to avoid using platform-specific bitmap formats such as Mac PICT or PC BMP. And if you're thinking about taking a graphic off of a Web site, please understand that we can't use highly compressed formats such as GIF or JPEG. They're great for creating small images that load quickly on a Web page, but their resolution is far too low to allow them to be used in any kind of  larger decoration.

If your decoration spec calls for multiple spot colors (2 or more colors), your artwork must be in an EPS format to allow us to output spot color separations. If you're using an illustration program such as CorelDraw or Freehand, please export your art to a generic EPS format that can be read by Adobe Illustrator before sending it to us.

Do you use Macs or PCs as your graphic arts platform?
Our graphic arts work is done on PC's and the Mac.  We can accept files from either platform. The TIF and EPS file formats mentioned above are generally interchangeable between Macs and PCs. Our primary graphics applications are:

Adobe Illustrator® Version 10.0
Adobe Photoshop® Version 7.0
Adobe PageMaker® Version 7.0
